William Joseph “Bill” White, 87, of Savannah, Georgia peacefully passed away on June 24, 2026, at Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family.
Bill was born on October 4, 1938, in Savannah to William Francis White and Mary Lales White. A lifelong Savannah resident, he lived a life defined by hard work, integrity, quiet strength, and deep devotion to those he loved.
After graduating from Benedictine Military School, Bill built a long and respected career as a civil engineer, retiring from Thomas & Hutton after many years of dedicated service. He took great pride in his work.
Outside of work, Bill found great joy in the outdoors, especially hunting and competitive handgun shooting. The sport brought him not only countless memorable experiences but also lifelong friendships with the many shooting buddies who shared his passion. Whether in the field, at the range, or simply spending time with family and friends, Bill appreciated the simple pleasures of life and the people who made it meaningful.
Above all, Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He shared 26 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Odette, whose love and companionship brought him great happiness. He was a proud father to Rick (Susan), Chris (DeeDee), and Joey (Angie), and nothing brought a bigger smile to his face than spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved beyond measure. His family will remember him for his steady presence, gentle nature, wisdom, and unwavering love.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Francis White and Mary Lales White, and his brothers, Ed and Tommy.
Though he will be deeply missed, Bill leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and kindness that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church or Benedictine Military School.

I was saddened to hear of Bill's passing. We worked together at Thomas & Hutton. Bill was one of my early mentors and always took the time to show me the ropes and explain concepts. Joey instilled these values. Whenever I reached out to Joey for information on existing natural gas lines and availability, he was always a tremendous help. I loved hearing about Bill's cowboy shooting competitions and firearms acquisitions. I loved Bill's company. He'll be missed.

Billy and my late husband, Bill, were childhood friends and neighbors. They continued that friendship over the years into adulthood.
